Art Activities

medical collage

Materials Needed:

making a stethoscope

Materials Needed:

Have the children twist their 2 pipe cleaners together, beginning at a point about 1/3 the way down the length of the pipe cleaners. Bend the upper third of the pipe cleaners into a U-shape and secure a cotton ball to each end for ear pieces. Pierce a hole in the bottom of the cup and thread the yarn through. Attach the yarn to the center of the U-shape.

painting with medical gloves

Materials Needed:

Children will put the medical gloves on their hands (use non-latex gloves if allergic). Children can dip their hands into the paint and make a picture on the paper. They can be very creative with hand prints, smearing, etc.

This is a great idea for the child who is sensory-sensitive, and does not usually touch paint!

x-rays

Materials Needed:

Display x-rays of hand, spine, skull, legs, feet, etc. on a window in the room. Let the children examine the x-rays and determine which parts of the body each represents. Have the children draw their own x-rays using white chalk and black construction paper.
